I started Peaches and Cream for Me in August of 2014 after finally giving in to the prompting and encouragement of my friends and family members to sell my creations. The day after my shop opened, I received my first sale. I knew it was confirmation that I was on the right track. Boy was I excited. Sales continued, and they would come and go in waves just perfect for each moment of life. I loved that I was able to do a hobby I enjoyed, stay at home with my daughter, and work at my own pace. I was also happily surprised to find how enjoyable I find it to work with customers and tailor their orders to their liking. What a joy it is to provide people with customized, handmade, keepsake items!

Not too long after opening, I had a passing thought that this business should be involved with a ministry in some way or another. I felt the need to not be entirely centered on making a little extra money for our family, but to have an outward focus. Not that what I was doing was wrong, not in the least, but I was simply feeling led to do more. Seeing as how crocheted baby shoes were by far the most popular items sold in my shop, a ministry concerning shoes was at the forefront of my mind. Then, in June of 2015, I found Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls.

Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls is a fantastic faith-based humanitarian organization. They distribute NEW shoes to orphans and vulnerable children worldwide. Shoes are much more than just an accessory to them; shoes provide health, education, and hope to children in desperate need of such. Teams travel where there is need, they wash the children’s dirty feet, slide on a new pair of clean socks, tie on a new pair of shoes, and share with them the hope they have in Christ. Once I discovered Shoes for Orphan Souls, I couldn’t help but want to be a part of it. So, a portion of all profits is now donated to them. Yes, that means that any pair of shoes you buy from me helps a child in need get a new pair of shoes he can call his own. What’s more, I can’t wait to see where else God may take me with this program in the future, with service opportunities such as shoe drives, barefoot runs, and mission trips all available avenues to take.
